An outstanding philosopher, scientist and music theorist from the city of Otrar - Abu Nasr Al-Farabi in the treatise Kitab al-musika al-kabir (Big Book of Music), gave a deep philosophical and mathematical insight into the music, and scientist Stephen Hawking, a theoretical physicist of our time, the author of the theory of the evaporation of black holes, believed that science should become as popular as music.

Therefore, dear readers, we want to share with you our news in the scientific, educational and popular science fields of the past decade.

The KUSTO / KAZPETROL GROUP team has not only studied the geological structure of Kazakhstan’s subsoil for 11 years, extracting more than 1 million tons of Kumkol oil, but also, under the leadership of candidate of economic sciences Batyrzhan Sabyrbekuly Daulet, is engaged in scientific research of human DNA, contributing a feasible contribution to archeology, population genetics of Kazakhstan and the world, for which it received thanks from the Kazakhstan State Museum-Reserve 'Issyk', as well as from one of the oldest general scientific English magazine ‘Nature’, in the article '137 ancient human genomes from across the Eurasian steppes', May 17, 2018, and from one of the authoritative scientific American magazine ‘Science’, in the article ‘The First Horse Breeders and the Influence of the Steppe Expansions of the Early Bronze Age in Asia' (June 29, 2018)

Over the indicated period, enthusiasts of the country collected 822 DNA samples in the KZ DNA project.

KUSTO / KAZPETROL GROUP research team helped to collect DNA samples of classics of Kazakh literature, famous writers of the early and mid-20th century Ilyas Zhansugurov from Zhetisu, and Sabit Mukanov from the North Kazakhstan region, Zhambylsky, whose works can be found in the Library of Congress (Washington) and in the National Library of Australia (Canberra). Their DNA has been studied in the American Family Tree DNA laboratory. DNA of the famous singer Rosa Baglanova from Kyzylorda, the heroically deceased Afghan warrior Batyrzhan Shalgimbaev from Kyzylorda.

Olympic champions and prize-winners of Kazakhstan Vladimir Smirnov from Borovoye, Ilya Ilyin from Kyzylorda, Erkebulan Shynaliev from Shymkent were also studied.

Genetic data of representatives of KUSTO group: Karsybekov Orazkhan Kairzhanovich, of KAZPETROL GROUP: Toguzbaev B.K., Privalov A.S., Daulet B.S., Esetova G.Zh., Tleubaev K.I., Ustarmagatova V.Zh., Fendel V. A., Kebadze O.M., OSS LLP: Kim A.S., as well as the DNA of our other fellow citizens, residents of Karakalpakstan, citizens of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and various African countries were analysed.

Nomads of Great Steppe

Continuing the popularization of science at KAZPETROL GROUP, in June 2019, GR and PR team held an exclusive screening of the Kazakh-Canadian popular science film ‘Equus: The Story of a Horse’.

The film was presented by the author, producer, and DNA researcher Nurbol Baimukhan, who made an international rally of 24,559 km. from Almaty to Europe showing the film to more than 7 thousand people in 24 countries of the world before the June arrival in Kyzylorda.

The shows were also held at the Geneva office of the UN and UNESCO in Paris. Earlier, a creative meeting with the Canadian producer, film director, and anthropologist Naiobi Thompson was held in Almaty.

The film takes the audience back to 6 thousand years into the past of the Great Steppe, where they can see how the ancient ancestors of the Botai settlement of northern Kazakhstan lived and how the horse was first domesticated, and how paleogenetists found out that the Przewalski horse, which was previously considered wild, is the modern descendant of the Botay horse of the steppes of Central Asia.

A pleasant bonus of involvement in watching the exclusive film was a historical artifact - a sacred bowl from the Saki barrow, found during our archaeological research in the vicinity of Issyk in 2017, was used in this popular science film 'Equus: The Story of a Horse', which will be broadcast on TV channels in 50 countries of the world.

Impressed by the charm, drama and depth of the history of millennia, KAZPETROL GROUP management and employees expressed their respect to the authors of the film and thanked him.
